Eve Penberthy, Somatic Therapy

I work with my clients with strong love, warmth, challenge, creativity, and a commitment to building relationship. I often work with clients who aren’t sure if they want to be in therapy, or for whom therapy feels like a strange leap. I work with gender diverse clients, young people navigating loss, and people struggling with depression, anxiety, and loneliness.

Themes of attachment and relationship, intergenerational trauma, sexuality, creative expression, spirituality, and community building often arise in this work. I support each client's unique process and believe in the potency and power of having company and witness in the hardest places.

I have a Masters in Somatic Counseling with a concentration in Body Psychotherapy from Naropa University. Prior to opening my private practice, I served clients through Naropa Community Counseling, a Medicaid clinic located in Boulder, CO. I have a background in movement-based rites of passage work as a SomaSource Practitioner, I am an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist, and I have worked closely with individuals in transitions of birth, death, and illness.

I value community, nuance, an understanding of systemic oppression and power, attention to basic needs, and all-access psychoeducation. I am passionate about the ways that creativity, humor, and connection can help us heal and open new pathways. â€‹

I am supervised by Rachael Collins (CO LPC.0014515).

My Story

My journey to becoming a therapist has been closely linked to my own navigation of healing. A series of losses in my 20s brought me in close contact with caretaking, illness, overdose, and suicide, and set me on a lifelong path of knowing love and grief as inseparable.

These experiences have been immense teachers, have brought me closer to myself and my capacity, and also continue to shake and reassemble me daily. It is through this grief and loss that I learned about, and sought refuge in, somatic therapy.

Through the healing ground of a hard-won therapeutic relationship, and the movement-based rites of passage work of Golden Bridge, I was propelled towards deeper study of how grief, trauma, and healing are centered in the body.

Now, my work with clients is deeply tied to my belief in the power of direct engagement with the biggest pain points of our lives, whatever those may be, and the depth and healing that can grow from those places when there is the right company.
